    “We Are Together”

    Visiting Autism Rehabilitation Center

There is a group of children who are called autistic children. They are not blind, but they don’t see; they are not deaf, but they don’t hear; they can speak languages, but they are hard to talk to you. Although they are thought to be disable, they always have some special gift, so they are called “Children Who Hug Stars”. In order to understand and help them, on January 4th, 2018, the volunteers from Maple Leaf International School-Tianjin Huayuan Elementary School and Middle School visited Dagang District Sunflower Autism Rehabilitation Center.

As New Year is coming, Maple Leaf International School-Tianjin Huayuan took the donation from Thanksgiving Flea Market to buy meat, life necessities and warm clothes. When we arrived at the rehabilitation center, they welcomed us warmly. Afterwards, Ms. Li from Rehabilitation Center introduced children’s life and their progress and growth. At beginning, they avoided us, but gradually, they started to greet us and called us “brothers and sisters”. After the communication, we chatted and played games with them. They felt love from others and began to blend with us.

“I am very grateful that I could live and grow in such a school brimming with love. Compare with them, we are so lucky. In the future, I will try my best to donate my love.” a student said after the visiting.

The autistic children need their parents and the rehabilitation center to help them to recover, they also need the volunteers like us. We hope we could bring more warmth to people who need help and bring the hope to desperate family through the charity activity. We hope more and more people will understand the Autism and offer them some help. Meanwhile, we hope the activity will teach Maple Leaf students to have a warm and kind heart to inherit the spirit of Maple Leaf.
