     Do you know what Panda Book Award is?

     你知道什么是熊猫图书奖么?

     Do you know what are the students and teachers of different International Schools busy doing in February and March?

     你知道其他国际学校的学生和老师每年的3月份在忙什么么?

     Do you know what the popular English books are recently? (Please do not say “No, David!”)

     你知道目前流行的英语故事书是什么么?(请不要说大卫不可以)

     The Panda Book Awards initiative is now on its eleventh year and its popularity has grown tremendously. During the first year, five international schools participated in voting. During the last year, fifty international schools joined the initiative, and over 7,700 students casted their votes.

    “熊猫图书奖”从2008年开始创立,评选活动每年举行一次,至今已有十一年的历史。第一年,只有5所学校参与其中。而过去的一年里,已经有来自50所国际学校的7700余名学生参与了投票。

     The Panda Book Award initiative invites students and teachers to participate international schools in China and beyond to vote for their favorite book published in the previous two years.

    “熊猫图书奖”活动邀请中国国内、外的国际学校师生参与的图书评选活动。参与者可以根据组委会给出的“候选书单”,为自己最喜爱的图书投上一票。参加评选的图书也是非常的与时俱进,都是两年内新出版的英文书呢!

     The following picture shows all the winners of Panda Book Awards from 2008 to 2018!

    以下就是熊猫图书奖”2008年到2018年的历年获奖图书!

     This year, Maple Leaf International School-Tianjin Huayuan Campus is greatly honored to join this remarkable book-reading event. On the first day of the coming semester, we are going to start this event, which will last for a month. Eventually, we will have our own Panda Book Awards Winners. 

     今年,华苑枫叶国际学校,也有幸参与到这一盛大的读书活动中。我校将自218日新学期第一天起,举行为期1个月的Panda Book Awards图书阅读与评选活动。届时,将评选出华苑枫叶“熊猫图书奖”获奖图书。

    Time: February 18th – March 18th, 2019.

    Content: We integrated the competition rules with the characteristics of our students, and divided our students into 3 age groups:

    Grade 1-3: Lower Elementary School - Young Readers - picture books

    Grade 4-6:  Upper Elementary School - Middle Readers - chapter books

    Grade 7-9:  Middle School - Older Readers - chapter books

    活动时间:2019218日-318

    活动内容:按照小学低段组、小学高段组及初中组三个组别,分别评选出华苑枫叶“熊猫图书奖”的获奖图书。 

    活动级别:1-3年级:小学低段组,阅读Young Readers 绘本故事

              4-6年级:小学高段组,阅读Middle Readers 章节书

              7-9年级:初中组,阅读Older Readers 章节书

    The benefits of this activity:

      To cultivate students’ interest in reading, and to improve their ability in reading. 

     To strengthen students’ reading habits, light their English reading enthusiasm.

     To educate for global citizen with international perspective, for the person who can use English as a media to learn new knowledge, to think, to express, and to create.

     The massive “input” is the premise of “output”. 

     Develop the students’ language, cognition, emotion and personality

     Achieve the goals of the standard on students’ extra-curricular English reading of Maple Leaf Educational System rapidly. For example, the extra-curricular reading an amount of Level 2 goes up to 15,000 words, and the extra-curricular reading an amount of Level 4 goes up to 60,000-80,000 words.

    √ 培养学生的阅读兴趣,进而提高学生的阅读能力。

    √ 巩固学生养成的阅读习惯,点燃学生英文阅读热情。

    √ 将学生培养成具有国际视野的世界公民,使之能够以英语为媒介去学习新知,进行思考、表达与创造。

    √ 让大量的语言“输入”,为学生的语言“输出”打基础。

    √ 促进孩子语言、认知、情感和个性诸多方面整体的发展。

    √ 加快实现枫叶教育集团对学生课外阅读提出的量化标准。(如:二级学生,课外英文阅读总量应达到15000词;四级学生,课外英文阅读总量应达到60000-80000词。)
